Excellent Opportunity for a Nursery Deputy Manager role – Romford, Essex
Megalo Recruit are looking for a passionate, dedicated candidate, who has previous nursery room leader experience, to join this small established nursery group in Romford as a Nursery Deputy Manager. You will be based in the toddler room.
Job Specification for Nursery Deputy Manager role:
- Hours are 40 hours per week.
- Monday to Friday, all year round, covering 7am until 6pm.
- NNEB/CACHE, BTEC or NVQ in Childcare at Level 3 or above
- GCSE – Maths and English – Grade C and above / or Functional Skills – Level 2 – English, Maths and ICT
- Recent experience as well as Room Leader experience in the toddler room previously
- Paediatric First Aid Certificate
- Salary is between £27,500 up to £30,500 pa, depending upon experience and qualifications

Skills required to include:
- To work with the manager to develop the nursery in accordance with the framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
- To be the Designated Safeguarding Lead
- To take responsibility and coordinate the planning, monitoring and evaluation of the work of the nursery
- To monitor and evaluate staff’s ability to motivate and progress children’s development through planning, observations and profiles in accordance with EYFS and Every Child Matters
- Work with the manager to recruit, support and supervise staff employed at the nursery and ensure the fulfilment of contractual obligations.
- To provide support and ensure that all staff, volunteers and students working in the nursery comply with all relevant policies and procedures
- To ensure good communication between staff, parents and other outside agencies and professionals
- To ensure the maintenance of consistently high standards in early education and childcare, using methods as required by the nursery manager. To support the manager to develop and maintain systems which support quality standards and ensure a coherent and systematic approach to planning and delivery of quality provision
- To supervise, monitor and evaluate practice and provision provided for children with special educational needs, by the appointed SENCO
- To provide leadership to the nursery team, ensuring effective team working, communication and training and development of all staff
- To ensure that individual professional standards are maintained and that there is a full compliance with policy and procedural guidelines, including child protection, safeguarding and confidentiality
- To take part in, and contribute to all aspects of staff training and development relevant to the role and function of the nursery
- To oversee the efficient sustainable upkeep of the nursery in terms of maintenance, equipment, furnishings and budgeting
- Observe and operate the organisation’s practice guidelines, systems, procedures and policies fully
- Working in partnership with parents and carers
- To work with and support other staff and colleagues from other agencies to provide a joined up service which meets the holistic needs of the children and their families
- To attend appropriate meetings identified by the line manager, liaise and plan effectively for these
- To take full responsibility in the absence of the nursery manager
