Job Specification for Nursery Deputy Manager:
- Salary from £33,500 pa up to £35,000 pa, depending upon qualifications and previous Nursery Deputy Manager experience.
- ** You MUST hold a full and relevant Early Years and childcare qualification at Level 3 or above**
- 40 hours per week, 5 days per week, working a 10 hour day from 730am until 630pm all year round.
- Easily accessible train journey via public transport and good reliable bus routes! Drivers can park for free about 10-15 minutes walk.
- Start Date : January 2025/ASAP.
Skills required :
- Full and relevant NVQ, Cache, NNEB or equivalent LV3 Diploma qualification in the UK or QTS Status
- Excellent communication skills and proven experience working with Early Years age group
- To complete observations and online learning journals to a high standard, ensuring that they are up to date
- Live within a 30-45 minute commute daily
- Have experience of leading a team in a nursery/school setting with toddler, babies and preschool age groups
- Previous Nursery Deputy Manager experience essential
- Solid knowledge of the EYFS, safeguarding and Health and Safety
- To be the Designated Safeguarding Lead, ensuring that all policies are kept up to date and any safeguarding concerns are reported in line with the Little Learner policies.
- Experience working in a nursery or school setting
- Commutable via public transport (bus, trains)
- Have a registered DBS certificate on the update service or have adequate documents to make an application.

Role Responsibilities include (but not limited to) :
- To work with the manager to develop the nursery in accordance with the framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
- To take responsibility and coordinate the planning, monitoring and evaluation of the work of the nursery to ensure systems are in place to produce monitoring information
- To monitor and evaluate staff’s ability to motivate and progress children’s development through planning, observations and profiles in accordance with EYFS and Every Child Matters
- Work with the manager to recruit, support and supervise staff employed at the nursery and ensure the fulfilment of contractual obligations.
- To undertake one to ones and appraisals with the team working with the manager
- To ensure good communication between staff, parents and other outside agencies and professionals
- To provide leadership to the nursery team, ensuring effective team working, communication and training and development of all staff
- To take part in, and contribute to all aspects of staff training and development relevant to the role and function of the nursery
- To oversee the efficient sustainable upkeep of the nursery in terms of maintenance, equipment, furnishings and budgeting
- To work with and support other staff and colleagues from other agencies to provide a joined up service which meets the holistic needs of the children and their families
- To take full responsibility in the absence of the nursery manager
