Are you a passionate Nursery Cook who loves helping creating healthy, nutritious meals for young children? We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced nursery (or care home) cook to join a friendly early-years team and support their commitment to fresh, balanced food made with care.

About the Nursery Kitchen Assistant Role

As a Nursery Cook, you will play a vital part in delivering high-quality meals for children aged 0–5. You’ll plan weekly menus to ensure all meals meet dietary, allergy, and nutritional requirements following Early Years guidelines. This is a brilliant opportunity for someone who enjoys working in an early-years environment and has a genuine passion for healthy cooking.

Key Responsibilities of Nursery Cook

• Preparation and implementation of menu’s for babies to pre-schoolers.
• Preparation of meals ensuring high standard of food quality
• Manage supplies/stock
• Ensure hygiene and cleanliness of the kitchen area
• Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards
• Manage the kitchen assistant
• Follow kitchen procedures and maintain records in accordance with Environmental Health policies and processes

Requirements of Nursery Cook

• Have experience in a similar role catering for large numbers of people, preferably for children.
• Have a minimum of level 3 food hygiene qualification or certified equivalent
• Have a sound knowledge of food safety, HACCP and COSHH requirements.
• Knowledge of early years nutrition and allergen awareness
• Positive attitude, reliability, and passion for healthy food
